Our official inauguration was on 17 November 1913. We are Alberta ‘s third post-secondary institution. Our past started earlier. The Vermilion Trade Board lobbied the provincial government for a farm school. Vermilion was eventually named a place of demonstration farm in 1911. Then, it was selected as one of three agriculture colleges.

Advanced Animation, Visual Effects (VFX), Game Design, and Game Technology programs prepare you for an increasing number of careers in the entertainment arts sector. Although the origins of Nipissing University with the North Bay Normal School date back to the 1900’s, Nipissing University College was established as an associate of Laurentian University in 1967. In 1992 the University of Nipissing obtained its authorization as an autonomous institution.
